Qualifications:
- Active membership in good standing with a Canadian Bar Association.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in immigration law, with expertise in:
- Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) processes and requirements.
- Negotiating with Canadian employers to facilitate foreign recruitment.
- Handling Judicial Review (JR) cases, including preparation and representation.
- Filing and managing Mandamus applications to compel governmental action.
- Representing clients in appeals before relevant immigration authorities and tribunals.
- Managing and advocating for refugee protection claims and related legal processes.
- Comprehensive understanding of Canadian immigration laws, policies, and procedural nuances.
- Multiple language skills are not required but would be a valuable asset.
Responsibilities:
- Immigration Applications: Prepare and submit various immigration applications, including LMIA requests, ensuring accuracy and completeness to minimize the risk of rejections.
- Legal Representation: Represent clients in legal proceedings, including appeals before the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada (IRB), judicial review applications in Federal Court, and mandamus actions to ensure immigration authorities fulfill their obligations.
- Refugee Cases: Evaluate the legitimacy of asylum seekers' and refugees' claims, represent them in IRB proceedings, prepare detailed statements, and gather necessary evidence to support their cases.
- Legal Compliance: Stay informed on changes in immigration laws and policies, ensuring clients receive accurate advice and remain compliant with current regulations.
JSM Law is currently recruiting for an in-office experienced Commercial Real Estate Clerk to join our team. The position is a full-time permanent position.
Responsibilities for the Law Clerk include, but are not limited to:
- Meeting with clients to review documentation, prepare reporting letters and preparing other transactional documents;
- Keeping track of key dates in the real estate closing process;
- Drafting, reviewing, amending and updating documentation including terms of agreement of purchase and sale, and closing documents;
- Experience with the development and operation of commercial leasing while representing major developers, and builders, etc.
- Order title insurance policies;
- Experience in construction law would be an asset;
- Reviewing Title Search documents and preparing documents on Teraview;
- Experience in pre-construction and post-construction purchases;
- Experience acting for contractors, developers, re-sellers, purchases, real estate agents and brokers;
- Schedule and coordinate closings, ensuring all parties are informed and prepared;
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications for Law Clerk:
- 3+ years of experience at a law firm, and understanding of commercial law and residential law;
- Ability to work independently and strong work ethics;
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.

Personal Injury Lawyer
We are seeking a Personal Injury Lawyer with at least 5 years experience who is looking for a fresh challenge. The firm is a friendly, multi-practice firm where the new hire will be able to take on intellectually stimulating work in a busy practice.
The ideal candidate must be able to handle all aspects of Accident Benefits and Tort claims in regards to Motor Vehicle Accidents and Slip & Fall incidents, as well as Long Term Disability Claims. They will possess an LL.B or JD, and be a member in good standing with LSO.
In terms of Accident Benefits: the ideal candidate must be knowledgeable in the Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule (SABS), be able to complete various insurance forms
In terms of Tort claims (3rd Party claims): the ideal candidate must be comfortable drafting pleadings (statement of claim), drafting motion materials and attending motions court, attending examinations for discovery, drafting mediation memorandums, attending mediations, setting matters down for trial, drafting pre-trial conference memorandums, attending pre-trial conferences, and settling claims.

Personal Injury Law Clerk (Accident Benefits/Tort)
The ideal candidate will possess excellent customer service skills to build and maintain a strong relationship with clients, personal injury lawyers/clerks/law firms. A College Diploma or Degree from a recognized Law Clerk or Paralegal program is an asset. Experience in Accident Benefits (SABS legislation) is required.
